Baby Francis, here on the picture, is one of them. A little boy, who was brought by his uncle. He was born that very morning at home. His mother died after giving birth. She was multiple handicapped, mentally and she was also blind and deaf. Nobody knows who the father is of this little boy.  His weight was 1.3 kg. and he was feeling cold, so he was put in the incubator. He is now a week with us and he is doing a bit better, we have to feed him with a NG tube, because he is too weak to drink himself.

There are many children at the moment in Amecet, today we received nr. 27, a small Babyboy, his mother gave birth in a health centre in the village and the doctor called for help. The mother has a mental illness and she is aggressive towards the baby, the baby is not safe with her. So Simon went, with one of our staff, to pick the baby.

From the 27 children, 17 are babies, and real little babies.... Then there are 8 toddlers, who are crawling and walking everywhere and 2 bigger girls (5 and 11 years). You can imagine that our staff is busy.. All the babies are fed every 3 hours, some small ones, every 2 hours. I am so proud of the staff, they do their work with a smile, really, maybe not when the poopy diaper smells too much....

So many stories, the 5 year old girl came together with her 3 weeks old little sister. The mother was very sick in the hospital, the 5 year old girl, Prisca, was the caretaker for the mother and the baby. The baby was 3 weeks old, but her weight was 2 kg. Prisca is very happy, she can be a child again and play.. But you can see that she is used to care for others, she is gentle and caring for the other children.. We got a child who was rescued out of the pit latrine, and another baby was brought by the police because her father murdered the mother and the family was now a mess, because of that.
It is so good that Amecet can be a haven, a point of safety for those children...

There is an older girl, who was abused by her father and locked in the house, now we see her smiling and even laughing, one of her brothers came to visit her with the mother (the parents were  separated) and he asked his sister how she got that extra meat on her body, what are we eating in Amecet??

A little boy of 1 year and 5 months was brought by a clinic in the village, the baby was severely malnourished, he was swollen and very weak. I think he was not far from dying... He got blood transfusion and he was fed little by little, mostly fluids, he had terrible diarrhoea and had to get fluids by I.V. You could just see that he felt so sick and weak. He is now more than 2 weeks with us and we see a bit of change coming.. Your heart goes out to this little man and you would do anything to make him more comfortable...

I got many reactions after the last blog. It really encourages me, that many people read our blogs and support and pray for the children and us, the staff. This blog confirms that Amecet is still going on and will do so in the coming years. Many children will find a place of peace and safety in Amecet. This was the dream, before I started the ministry and I am so thankful for all the staff who came to work with us and the people supporting us. Keep checking on  us, we will continue to care for the children who are in need.
