Els van Teijlingen has officially retired from Amecet. After 24 years of faithful service and 100% dedication to the children of Soroti and the surrounding area, it's time to return to the Netherlands.

Els has made a significant impact in the region. More than 1,300 children have found new life and hope through Amecet. This hasn't gone unnoticed. Several hundred people attended the celebration, which included numerous speeches, music and delicious food.
Mark and Janneke Gerritsen will take over Els's work. They arrived in October and will lead Amecet in the coming years. They introduce themselves here:

We are Mark and Janneke Gerritsen. We feel called by God to continue the work at Amecet. After over a year of preparation, we are now here to serve the children and people of Soroti and the surrounding area. Els has received a wonderful vision from God, and we fully embrace that vision: temporarily fostering children and after that placing them back with their family or another family. A child should grow up in a natural environment that suits them and their culture. There are many needs in Soroti; Amecet offers many opportunities. We are curious to see what God wants us to do. It's the beginning of a new chapter in the same book.
We have a daughter who is married and lives in the Netherlands. We previously served in a primary school in Ethiopia from 2010 to 2017.
God bless Els in the Netherlands and reward her for all she has done in Soroti.
